Download and Install Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.4 ICS ) on Samsung Galaxy Note

If you’re looking for a newer, better Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROM for your Samsung Galaxy Note N7000, then look no further. Another Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM has been released for the device in the form of CyanogenMod 9. CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Galaxy Note CyanogenMod 9

Those users who would like to try this different build of Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices can now download the aforementioned CyanogenMod 9 build to take it for a spin. However, they should note that there still are a series of issues with the release,  It seems like there are only a couple of things not working at the moment, which includes:

Known issues as of experimental build #1

Microphone during phone calls doesn’t work (you can hear other people but they won’t hear you – mic in apps like Skype or Vocal recognition works fine though) => Mostly fixed in build #2
Video recording doesn’t work.
Movie Studio is broken.
E-pen isn’t aligned properly in landscape => Fix included for build #2.
Boot animation not scaled properly => Fix included for build #2.

Before you get started consider backing up your phone data using Samsung Kies or Android apps such as Titanium Backup. Alternatively you can copy the data manually by connecting the phone to your computer with an USB cable. Make sure you have a GT-N7000 : Other devices won’t work. It will break things.

First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Galaxy Note, or coming from another ROM :

Make sure you’re NOT running a REPACKED ICS LEAK FROM i9220! Flash back to stock Gingerbread *through ODIN*!
Make sure you’re running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
Flash CM9 zip
Flash GApps zip
DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
Don’t restore Apps using Titanium Backup!

Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:

Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
Flash CM9 zip
Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
