First Cyanogen 9 Builds Of Android 4.0 (Galaxy S and Nexus) Available For Download

From the beginning, the CyanogenMod distribution has been all about customization: Make your phone your own, using the tools that have been in Android the whole time, but were redacted or omitted at the cost of user friendliness. The independent developers working to bring Google Android to the Android 4.0 are making very fast progress.

Like any previous CyanogenMod project, version 9 will allow you to unlock your device to put on custom apps.  If you are still hanging onto an earlier-generation Android device, CyanogenMod 9 could let you do a little unofficial software updating, so you can also enjoy all the swanky new UI and screen-capture goodness.

The port is an alpha and beta release which means it’s functional, but rough around the edges. According to dalingrin, most hardware features of the tablet are supported including buttons, sound, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, backlight, accelerometer and more.  It’s not perfect, but it could be fun for those adventuresome developers.
