Google TV is a software platform aiming to bring together traditional TV and video content from the web. The internet is quickly becoming a major channel of multimedia content delivery however a large portion of content is still TV exclusive.
It’s finally here! Today, Google announces software update for Google TV to brings millions of new channels to your TV from the next generation of creators, application developers, and networks. The latest version of Google TV is built on a new operating system: Android’s Honeycomb. And it has new tools for finding and recommending movies, TV shows and online videos, and makes it easier for software developers to create new apps for the television screen. There is also better search for TV, Netflix, YouTube and other apps, a new YouTube application and an on-ramp for the Android Market. For now, that means only access to hundreds of the Market’s 300,000-plus apps.

According to Google Tv Blog, the Google TV 2.0 update will be available to those that already own products with an incorporated Google TV platform, too. This software update will be coming to Sony devices starting early next week and Logitech devices soon thereafter. More software updates as well as new devices on new chipsets from multiple hardware partners will be announces by Google in the coming months.
