Yes, root may break the waranty.
For your info, Universal androot not only support root but also has unroot function, so you can recover to original mode via universal androot unroot function(1 click). “Do it at your own risk” :)

    lg ally here…
roots fine, give me super admin. It shows no apps under the ui… apps and setting windows work. If I try to view log it gives me a fc
if I go to apps, else were in the phone after root, and try to uninstall some of the pre loaded software. It doesn’t un-install. It says un-successful
it should right… if I’m rooted?

will this work on the mytouch 3g 1.6?

  15. Steven Hare

I download Androot to my T-mobile G1 and installed the program. I get the message “Woot! Your device is rooted” .. but it’s not. I have seen screen displays showing that several other lines are printed to the screen when the device is successfully rooted. so, something’s not working properly. I’ve download Terminal Emulator and run the su -c id command and I get a Segmentation fault error message. So .. any suggestions as to what’s going on? I have the original G1 and the firmware version is 1.6 and the build is DMD64.

    thanks, Steven

  16. BeijiMoto

    Steven,
I think it should work fine on G1.6. May be you can try the latest version of Universal Androot. Link: http://software2tech.com/2010/08/29/android-news-universal-androot-1-6-2-beta-5-released-and-available-for-download/

and for how to use the Universal Androot, you can refer to,Link:
    http://software2tech.com/2010/08/12/android-root-apps-updated-universal-androot-1-6-1-released-and-available-for-download/

  17. Steven Hare

    BeijiMoto,
I did exactly that used version1-6-2beta 5 but it seems I’m not rooted. If you look at the left hand graphic of the 2nd link of yours, you see a screen that says:

    Woot! Your device is rooted
    Generating Exploit .. [OK]
    Generating su .. [OK]
    Generating superuser.apk .. [OK]
    Generating root script .. [OK]

On my phone I only get the Wot! You device is rooted line and not the rest. So I don’t know if those other lines are from an earlier version of Androot or if I should see them. What I can say for certain is that my phone is NOT rooted using Androot 1-5-6beta5.

    thanks
    Steven

  21. Surinder

I have successfully rooted on my MOTO MILESTONE and checked.
ROM MANAGER Earlier would prompt that the system is not rooted.
    Now works like a charm

  22. jodihous

what is the benefit to rooting, as I am new to this and have the LG ALLY. love the phone, no problems. does anyone know about the internet connection pdnet?

  23. Heng

    jodihous:
    Welcome to Android world.
Once your phone, LG ALLY was root:
You can fully control over your phone such as overclock (made your phone run faster), WIFI AND Bluetooth Tethering, access and modification your android phone ROM, Ability to alter system files,Run special apps that need more control over the system and more. Besides this, some of software also can support or setup on the android root phone.

  24. KG

My original G1 with 1.6 does not work neither.
The Androidroot software shows that it is completed. But there is no Superuser icon. When I tried to update the image it failed.
I tried to reboot the phone with Alt+L and Alt+S, the phone didn’t find update.zip file.
    I don’ t know what’s wrong.

Meanwhile, my Behold 2 is incompatible with Androidrood.

  25. nicole

i have the lg ally and it says failed when i press root.

  26. I have a LG Ally and the Universal root stopped working. It now gives me a failed status

  30. connor

Hey I REALLY want to root my phone but says fail no fu goo.
    Lg ally 2.1 update 1
    Please help!

  31. dille

Just rooted my lg ally! Z4root works. Just need to open it in a file manager. Hope it works for ya’all!

  32. William

Fails on LG Ally Android 2.2.1

  33. Is anyone working on a fix for the Ally with Froyo 2.2.1?

  34. Demetria

So with the Ally update, you can’t root yet?

I just bought an Ally last week and it automatically updated the Android software as soon as I got it. Neither of the roots work. Androot just gives me that stupid message and z4root locks my phone up. The phone also won’t install the drivers to my computer so I don’t know any other way to make it work.

  35. WJfreek

Does not work on LG Ally 2.2.1

  36. Gaga

    Some one help?

  38. Seng

Quoc Vo, do you try it with temporary root? I think temporary root should work with a lot of device.

  39. frank

This didn’t work on my lg ally. Said it failed every time

  40. N1 running 2.2.1 failed at ‘loading toolkit’ No~~~~fo goo~~~~

Download 1.6.2 beta 5, drag to phone, install using Astro, AVG says virus warning = ignored, continue install…..then – fo goo!

Is there something I’m doing wrong here?

  41. Kyle

I do the androot and stuff, and then i see

    No ~~~ Fu goo ~~~

    What should i do?
